OCES5402 visits Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park on 11 March 2026

The OCES5402 course took students on a visit to Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park on 11 March 2026, offering a meaningful glimpse into one of Hong Kong’s earliest marine protected areas. Hoi Ha Wan is home to more than 60 coral species and over 120 fish species, making it one of the region’s most ecologically rich coastal habitats. We enjoyed a relaxing glass-bottom boat tour, which allowed us to observe corals and marine life up close. Through a sensory game, we gained deeper insight into how coral communities function and interact with their environment. At the Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre laboratory, we also learned how artificial coral planting contributes to ongoing conservation efforts.
