On 14 April 2024, students from the MSc in Global Marine Resources Management Program visited the Lau Fau Shan Oyster Farm for an educational field trip. Located in Lau Fau Shan, Hong Kong, the trip aimed to provide students with insights into local aquaculture and the challenges faced by oyster farmers. Interactions with the farmers allowed students to learn about oyster cultivation techniques, environmental conditions, and the life cycle of oysters. Discussions also focused on the difficulties related to environmental changes, water quality, and market demands. Drawing on their marine knowledge, students explored possibilities for enhancing oyster harvest and sustainability. The visit not only expanded students' understanding of the industry but also fostered connections and potential collaborations with local stakeholders in the pursuit of sustainable development in oyster farming.
