Exploring Conservation at Mai Po Nature Reserve!

2026-03-30

Recently, our students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Mai Po Nature Reserve! WWF staff welcomed the group, sharing fascinating insights into their daily operations, team structures, and potential career opportunities in conservation. Along with hearing about WWF's latest research projects, students were treated to an exclusive tour of the reserve's restricted areas. The group enjoyed bird watching, walking along the iconic floating bridges that span the wetlands, and exploring the traditional gei wai (shrimp ponds). It was a fantastic, hands-on experience where students learned how gei wai water levels are managed to sustain the ecosystem, and even discovered how resident water buffaloes act as natural weed controllers. We had a fun and highly educational time!
